Today we welcomed High School students and 2 of their teachers (Katie Kocab and Gerry Boucher) join us to introduce our Egg Hatching Unit.  In the past, we have worked with Casey Farm for this project.  They have been a wonderful resource for us, however, we are so excited to keep it local!!!  After reading a story about hatching, High School student Aiden Horan shared his chicken, Lulu, with the students.  He talked about how she is similar to the children, what she likes to eat, and how she behaves.  The children then had an opportunity to meet her up close and pet her.

The Lineham students then returned to their classrooms and worked alongside the High School students to create 2 chicken crafts.  It was such fun to see the big kids and the little kids working together.  The High School students were so patient and helpful with our little ones, helping them cut and glue.

Ms. Kocab provided us with 3 incubators and eggs which will hatch in roughly 3 weeks.  Our students will learn about a life cycle, part of our science curriculum, and experience the hatching.  We are thrilled with this in district collaboration!!!!!  Thank you to Ms. Kocab and Mr. Boucher for making this happen.
